Microsoft’s substantial investment is set to more than double its existing datacentre footprint in the UK, providing essential infrastructure to facilitate the operation of new AI models. Despite reservations expressed by Microsoft President Brad Smith in April, citing concerns that a decision by the UK’s antitrust regulator posed a risk to the tech industry’s confidence in the country, the recent approval of a restructured version of Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard has seemingly restored the company’s faith in the UK market.
